Saint Seiya: Before the Pisces Battle, No One Thought Leo Was the Weakest!

When Shoko of Virgo defeated Tokisada of Capricorn, many fans online hailed Shoko as a top-tier Gold Saint, even stronger than Fudō. I’ve always disagreed with that assessment.

Now, after Leo was instantly defeated by Pisces, some are even calling Mykéné the weakest—an utterly absurd claim.

The concept of the “thousand-day battle” among Gold Saints only applies when two fighters are nearly equal in strength. In reality, there are clear power gaps among the Gold Saints, whether in the original series, Lost Canvas, Next Dimension, or Omega. The disparities seem most pronounced in Omega.

Sonia’s situation is tragic, so let’s set her aside. Excluding her, three Gold Saints have been completely overpowered by the Bronze Saints using their Seventh Sense: Gemini, Cancer, and Aquarius. Additionally, Harbinger was defeated by a Sixth Sense Meteor Fist, which also suggests limited strength.

In Shoko’s battle against Tokisada, although Shoko emerged victorious, it was a hard-fought win. He had to overexert his Cosmos and endured a prolonged struggle. This indicates that even if Shoko is stronger, it’s only by a narrow margin—perhaps just one tier above, or simply being the stronger within the same tier.

In contrast, the fight between Leo and Pisces ended in an instant defeat. This clearly shows that Pisces is significantly stronger, not just by one tier but by a gap comparable to that between a Gold Saint and a Silver Saint.

Let’s be clear: Leo’s strength is not lacking. Before the battle with Pisces, no one would have considered Leo the weakest—at worst, mid-tier. Yet, upon appearing, Pisces immediately asserted a vast power difference, despite never having met Leo before.

Pisces is a special case: he is Medea’s brother and likely a Martian. Having possibly observed other Gold Saints, his confidence was unshaken even before facing Leo. It’s plausible that most Gold Saints would seem inferior in his eyes. So, it’s not that Leo is weak—it’s that Pisces is exceptionally powerful.
