10 Giant Pandas ‘Settle’ in Nanjing, All Born in August as Leos

A Roaring Welcome: Nanjing’s Newest Leo Residents

In an unprecedented event, ten giant pandas officially made Nanjing their new home, marking the largest single relocation of these beloved creatures within China. What makes this story even more celestial? Every single one of these magnificent bears shares the bold and charismatic zodiac sign of Leo, having all been born in the month of August.

The Grand Arrival of Fufeng and Fuban

After a long journey from Chengdu, the celebrated “returnee” pandas, Fufeng and Fuban, stepped into their new habitat at the Tangshan Ziqing Lake Tourist Area Panda. Exhibiting classic Leo curiosity and a regal presence, they cautiously explored their surroundings—wading through water, climbing structures, and meticulously surveying their new domain. Their behavior, a mix of nervous energy and innate confidence, perfectly captures the Leo spirit: proud, adventurous, and naturally commanding.

Meet the Pride: A Diverse Group of Leos

This remarkable group consists of six pandas who returned from overseas—born in Austria, Malaysia, and the USA—and four from domestic breeding bases in Wolong and Ya’an. The group includes six males and four females, ranging in age from 3 to 21 years old, with most in their youthful prime. This diversity highlights the global effort in panda conservation while uniting them under the Leo banner of strength and leadership.

Unprecedented Scale and Care

Jiang Hao, Deputy General Manager of Nanjing Ziqing Lake Wildlife World, emphasized the historic nature of this event. “This is the first time ten giant pandas have been relocated to a single location simultaneously in China,” he noted. The facility has been meticulously prepared to offer “national treasure-level” treatment, ensuring each panda’s health, comfort, and happiness.

A Leo’s Paradise: Designed for Royalty

True to their zodiac sign, these Leos will enjoy a life of luxury. Each panda has nearly 500 square meters of personal space, including climate-controlled indoor areas and expansive outdoor environments. Their diet consists of fresh bamboo sourced from high-altitude regions in Zhejiang, delivered every few days to ensure peak freshness, supplemented with nutritious biscuits. A dedicated team of caretakers and experts provides round-the-clock attention, catering to each panda’s unique personality—some are calm and reserved, while others are energetic and playful, much like the varied expressions of Leo energy.

Why August? The Astrological Connection

It’s no coincidence that these pandas are all August-born Leos. Giant pandas have a unique reproductive cycle, with most births naturally occurring in late summer. This astrological alignment adds an enchanting layer to their story, symbolizing natural leadership, warmth, and a vibrant presence—all traits associated with Leos. They aren’t just pandas; they are a pride of celestial beings, here to inspire and captivate.

Looking Ahead

As they adjust to their new home, these magnificent Leos are expected to make their public debut around October. Visitors from around the world will soon have the opportunity to witness these charismatic bears in person, each embodying the courage, charm, and grandeur of the lion-hearted Leo.
